WHO Summer School 2009 - presentations now online!

The WHO Summer School 2009 in Crete turned out great. We had participants from Taiwan, Canada, Singapore, Finland, Australia, Switzerland and Norway with all sorts of backgrounds and fields of knowledge and experience. This made for some very fruitful and highly interesting discussions.

Among the lecturers were Tune Hein, a business consultant, who spoke about ways to execute strategies regarding Health Promotion in a Hospital or Health Service setting. Another speaker was Poul Erik Hansen, an ecomomist from the National Danish Board of Health, who spoke about making HP visible in reimbursement systems. Also Research and Education Director, Oliver Groene, came from the University of Barcelona to give an inspiring talk about how we can document being a Health Promoting Hospital or Health Service - using the HPH Standards and Indicators Self Assessment Tool, which he himself was a core figure in developing.

Aside from those lecturers that were external to HPH on a day-to-day basis, the Summer School also included many N/R Coordinators. Among those were Shu-Ti Chiou from Taiwan, who gave a very interesting presentation about the Taiwanese usage and experiences regarding the HPH Standards.

The WHO Summer School 2009 proved very succesful. It inspired many a heated discussion, and the general feedback in the final evaluation session was also very positive. For instance, it was felt that the practical examples and the theoretical base was put together in a well balanced way. Similarly, the dealing with such things as how to make HP visible, how to acheive what we set out to acheive and how to use and build on the experience and efforts of eachother seemed very fruitful.
