The Advisory Board of the MFCCH Task Force meets
Meeting update
The Advisory Board of the MFCCH Task Force was held on Friday 6th of March 2009 in Reggio Emilia. It took place at the end of the conference on "Outcomes measurements", and it was hosted by the Azienda Unità Sanitaria Locale di Reggio Emilia and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Once again the meeting was jointly organised with the COST ActionHOME (Health and Social Care for Migrants and Ethnic Minorities in Europe).
The meeting topic
Many interventions have been devised which aim to improve the health of migrants and ethnic minorities, their access to health care, or the quality of the care services provided to them. However, relatively little research has been carried out to assess the effectiveness of these interventions. In these days of "evidence-based medicine", such research surely deserves a much higher priority. The recent meeting discussed the research that has been carried out so far and its findings; difficulties in carrying out evaluations; ways of overcoming these difficulties; and the directions which future research and policy should take.
Among the invitees were both TF members and interested HPH members.
