Background

The substance use has increased also in Nord-Trøndelag county, at the same time as we see the age for debut of use decrease, and the access of different substances increase. Most patients that we deal with are not addicted, but show signs of hazardous use that can expose them to somatic and psychiatric illnesses.

Purpose and objectives

The Childrens and family clinic at Levanger Hospital has for years had established cooperation when it comes to children who are admitted to the childrens ward with intoxication. Through this project we attempt to evaluate and document this practice. The project attempts to increase the knowledge about youth (age 14 and 19) and use of substances in Nord-Trøndelag.

Methodology and actions

We attempt to describe the background of the youth who are admitted with alcohol intoxication, and what place the use has in their lives, estimate prevalence of risk use, and describe change over time for the youth who are interviewed, and what characterise the ones who do/do not do well. Qualitative data collected from the youth who are admitted with intoxication, quantitative data from UngHUNT(health survey in Nord-Trøndelag).

Main target groups
